Starry Night (Teen!Armin x Fem!Shy!Reader) [AU]

“So guys, what are we gonna do tonight?”

“Sleep.”

“What? No way! We can’t just sleep every night! Not during vacation! That’s so boring~”

“Maybe horseface is right. We should do something tonight.”

“What did you just call me Jaeger?”

“What about a barbeque on the beach?” Connie asked.

“Barbeque?! Does that mean there’ll be food?!” Sasha gasped, “Connie, you’re a genius!” then kissed his cheek, making him blush.

Jean face-palmed. “Yes Sasha. There will be food. But you can’t eat everything.” Sasha leaned on Connie then slumped to the floor in despair.

“That sounds great,” Marco said, encouraging his friend. “We’ll have to buy some more food. Oh! And we should get s’mores too for a campfire!”

Jean fake cried tears of happiness. “I knew you’d back me up Marco, old buddy old pal!”

“What the hell are s’mores?”

Everyone looked at Levi, confused. “You don’t know what s’mores are?”

“Well obviously not since I just asked what they are, stupid.”

You sighed. “They’re melted marshmallows and chocolate in between 2 graham crackers.”

“... I’m not coming.”

“What? Why not?”

“Because I’d rather not get diabetes from the first bite.”

“You won’t get diabetes!”

“Yeah, and besides, I’m not letting you stay indoors again and miss all the fun shorty!” Reiner said with his arm around Levi’s neck.

“Would you get off of me you big ape.”

“Aw, did someone forget to take his afternoon nap~,” Hanji teased. Levi would have strangled her if Reiner hadn’t kept him in place. “Well then, who’s going to get the food?-”

“ME!!” Sasha jumped up into the air at the speed of light with her hand raised.

“Sasha, no one’s going to trust you with the food,” Eren said, making Sasha slump back to the floor.

“How about this. Connie, Sasha, Krista, and Ymir will stay here to get the campsite ready. Jean, Marco, Reiner, and Levi will get the meats we’ll be grilling. And Hanji, Eren, Mikasa, and I will get the s’mores and anything else we’ll need for tonight. Sound good?”

“That’s a great plan! Oh (first), I knew I could count on you!”

“Right...”

“But wait,” Eren said, “What about Erwin and Armin? Should we invite them?”

“Of course Armin’s coming! We just have to find him, wherever he is. And we probably should invite Erwin. You know Levi’s only going to be happy if his only friend is there.”

“Shut your trap Kirstein.”

“See? I told you... Alright men, let’s move out!”

“Some of us are women here Jean.”

“You call yourself a man, horseface?”

“Marco, hold me back. Hold me back before I kill him.”

“Alright. We got the chocolate, marshmallows, and the graham crackers. Anything else?”

Hanji gasped. “Guys! Guys! I know what we should make!”

“What should we make?”

“Mac ‘n cheese!”

You looked at her confused. “How are we gonna make mac ‘n cheese?”

“Put a pot on the grill! Then it’s just like a stove!”

Eren looked at her like she was crazy. “Hanji you’re crazy! No one wants to eat mac ‘n cheese on a beach!”

“Actually, that sounds pretty good.”

Hanji waved her finger at Eren. “Hehehe, don’t doubt me Eren. I’ve been to a few cookouts in my life.”

“Hanji, you’ve been with us almost everyday. You never go anywhere.”

“(first)! Don’t ruin my argument! I almost tricked Eren!”

“No you didn’t.”

“Eren might not be the smartest, but he’s not dumb enough to fall for that.”

“Mikasa!”

“What? I’m just telling the truth.”

Hanji started walking. “Come now, children~ We have a lot of shopping to do~!”

“We’re not your kids. You’re not even that much older than us.”

“Actually, I’m pretty sure she’s younger than us.”

“Eren! Mikasa! Don’t ruin my fun and just follow me!”

Eren chuckled at her suffering and they left. You were about to follow when you ran into Armin.

“(first)? What are you doing here?”

“I’m just doing a little shopping with everyone.”

“Oh, that’s cool... Um, hey I was wondering...” He started fidgeting.

“What is it?”

“U-um... I was wondering if... You wanted to do something tonight? I have it all planned and everything.”

“Oh, um. I kinda planned something with everybody else. Why don’t you come too? It’ll be fun.”

Armin looked down, disappointed. “N-no I’m okay...”

“Could we do meet up tomorrow then?”

“It kinda has to be today... But it’s okay. You can go have fun with everyone else. I’ll just stay in my room.” Armin started walking away.

“Wait Armin-”

“Hey (first)!” You turned back and saw that your group had met up with Jean’s group. When you turned back around, Armin had already left, so you went over to them. “Was that Armin?”

“Yeah. I asked him if he’d come but he said he’ll just stay inside tonight.”

“Man, what a buzz kill.” You elbowed Jean in the side.

“So you guys get the goods?”

“Of course!” Reiner said. “We got burgers, hotdogs, steak, and of course some potatoes!” He still had his arm around Levi, who looked like he was about to drop dead any second.

“You and your potatoes.”

“Can we leave now? I’ve been in a chokehold for the past 2 hours and I’d like to be able to breathe.”

“Alright, alright,” Jean said. “Let’s go home and get this party started!”

“What the hell are you guys doing?! You’re just lazying around!”

“What do ya’ mean,” Sasha said with a candy bar in her mouth and laying on top of Connie playing his game. “The everything’s all set up~”

“That’s because Krista and I did everything!” Ymir said, coming back from the beach. “You guys just sat here in the lobby and played!”

“Hey! I was eating thank you very much!” You saw a pile of food wrappers next her.

Everyone face-palmed. “Whatever. Let’s just start already...”

Finally, everything was in place and everyone had gathered, with the exception of Armin. Somehow, you all managed to keep Sasha from eating all the food before, and after, it was cooked.

“God Connie, control your girlfriend before she devours all the food.”

Connie blushed. “Reiner, she’s not my girlfriend! How many times do I have to tell you guys!”

“Until you finally get over yourself and just tell her you like her,” Jean snickered. “You too Jeager. If you’re not gonna take Mikasa for yourself then I’m gonna make my move.”

“W-what?!” Eren’s face lit up. “I-I don’t like her!” 

“Hmp. Yeah you do- Oof!” Mikasa, also slightly blushing, elbowed Jean in the side. “Jeez, I was just stating the obvious. It’s not like Armin gets mad when I tease him about (first)!”

You looked at him confused. “What do you mean?”

“You’re kidding, right? Everybody knows he’s basically in love with you! He’s practically confessed to you like a million times!”

You turned beat red. “W-what?”

“Oh come on~ You can’t be that dense. Even Levi knows how he feels. And we all know you like him too. I really don’t get why you guys don’t just get together already. It’s just annoying.”

“What are you talking about!” You turned around and hid your face in your hands. “I don’t like him like that! And he doesn’t like me either... I know it... I’ve had enough food for one day. I’m gonna go to bed.” You walked away and left.

Jean rolled his eyes at you. “Right. Well, when you two are done figuring out your feelings, we’ll be right here waiting and- SASHA STOP EATING ALL THE FOOD!”

Erwin and Reiner sat down next to Levi. “So Levi, you try the s’mores yet?”

“No. Like I said, I don’t wanna get diabetes.”

Reiner shoved a s’more in Levi’s hand. “You’re not gonna get diabetes! Just try one!” Levi scowled at him, then took a bite. 

“Well?” Erwin asked.

“What is this... Magnificent, mind-boggling, inconceivably delicious God-given gift to humanity?!”

The two giant men chuckled as Levi scarfed down 5 more, which Sasha took as a challenge and started eating some too, although she ate much quicker.

“God, what have we started?”

“I don’t know, but this is hilarious.” Reiner brought out his camera and started taking pictures of the two.

“Oh Erwin~”

“Hehehe, looks like Hanji’s looking for you Erwin.”

Erwin got up and started running. “Tell her you haven’t seen me!”

“Erwin~ Come back~!”

Armin sighed, staring out his window as the beautiful sunset gave way to the warm summer night. Feeling defeated, he decided to go out for a walk and check on how the barbeque.

“I wonder what (first) is doing right now...”

“Ow! Stinking vines!”

“Hello? Who’s there?”

“Ah... A-Armin?”

“(first)? Is that you?” You and Armin walked toward each other. “What are you doing here?”

“Oh, I was just coming back from the barbeque. What are you doing out here?”

“I was coming to check on you. I-I mean, check on everyone.” Armin blushed and looked at the ground.

“So, um. Is it too late to do that thing you talked about?”

He looked up with hopeful eyes. “No. In fact, now’s perfect. But you’re gonna have to do something for me.” He pulled out a long clothe. “I have to blindfold you. It’s a surprise, after all.”

“Okay.” You let Armin get behind you and tie the clothe around your eyes. “You’re going to help me walk, right?”

“Of course.” He put one hand on your hip, the other grabbing your hand as a guide. “It’s not too far, so we’ll be there pretty quickly.”

“Alright.” A couple stumbles and leans on him later, you reached your destination. When he took the blindfold off, you were standing on a cliff facing the wide, blue ocean that extended into the horizon.

“Armin, what are we doing here?”

“Just wait for it.”

You waited for a moment, then looked up. Your eyes widened. The sky was lit up with millions of stars, hundreds of them shooting through the sky at the speed of light. You stared at the sky in awe, tears beginning to form in your eyes from its beauty.

You turned around. “Armin. This is amazing. How did you know it was going to be today?”

He kicked a pebble beside his foot. “Well, I just did some calculations is all. No big deal,” he said bashfully.

“But I’m sure it was a lot of work. Why do all of that for me?”

“Well... I just wanted to show you something as beautiful as you. I figured you’d like it since you have a thing for stars.” You caught him off guard by running over to him and hugging him tight, almost toppling over. “So I’ll assume you liked it?”

“I love it! It’s wonderful.” You kissed his cheek, making him blush, and you did too after realizing what you did on impulse. You let go and stood next to him, silently watching the stars go by.

Something brushed against your hand. You looked down and saw the Armin had grabbed it, his other hand hiding his red face from you. You chuckled, thinking how cute he was.

“S-so, should we head back?”

“Yeah. Let’s go see if there’s any food left.”

“Well there isn’t much hope if Sasha was there.”

You giggled. “Yeah, you’re probably right.”

The two of you walked, engaging in small talk, and made it back to the beach. The grill was off and the campfire looked like it had been put out a while ago.

“Hey (first), over here!” Armin was at the grill when he called you over. “It looks like they left us a note.”

“What does it say?”

Armin began reading. 

“Dear love birds,

We’re pleased to see that you finally decided to make a move. We’ve been waiting forever for this. Like really, you have no idea. But yay for you~!

P.S. If you guys are gonna do it, try not to be too loud. You could attract a wild animal, or even Jean for that matter. And don’t forget! PROTECTION IS IMPORTANT! I’m not ready to be an aunt just yet!

You and Armin looked at each other, then looked away, blush covering both your faces.

“They’re so stupid. We’re not gonna... Do that,” Armin mumbled.

You nodded. “I don’t know if I’m ready for that...”

Armin nodded too. “Let’s go inside. They probably think we’re doing god knows what out here.” He took your hand and started to lead you back to the hotel.

“Or,” you said, pulling him back, “we could stay out here for a little while longer. It’s not like we have a curfew or anything.”

“Well actually, we do-”

“Shhhhh” You touched your finger to his lips, making him blush. “Let’s just forget about that and enjoy the time we have alone.”

“R-right...” You pulled him back to the campfire, where the two of you sat and talked all night long, hand in hand.

“So, Arlert. Out all night, huh? Didn’t think you guys would actually do it,” Jean said with a smirk. “Nice work.”

Armin flushed. “W-what? We didn’t do anything!”

Renier patted his back hard. “Come on Armin, there’s no need to be embarrassed! You’re the first one out of all of us! You should be proud!” Armin hid his crimson red face in his hands.

“Armin?” You poked you head through the door of the boy’s room.

Jean put his arm around Armin’s neck. “Speak of the devil! Armin was just telling us how you guys did it all last night!”

Your face lit up. “W-what?”

“Ah!” Armin squirmed away from Jean and walked toward you. You backed away some, embarrassed at their thoughts. “I-it’s not what you think!-”

“Oh sure. You guys don’t have to tell us what happened last night~ Just tell me, how was it?”

“Jean!”

You his your face behind Armin’s back. “C-can we go?”

“Yeah sure.” He grabbed your hand. “You guys are so embarrassing!” Then dragged you away, the door shutting behind you.

“Our little boy,” Jean said, wiping a nonexistent tear from his eye, with his arm around Reiner. “He’s grown up so fast.”

“Oh shut up horseface.”

“Jeager, I swear to god!”
