“Mommy! I don’t wanna play with this boy! What if he’s mean?” you whined, tugging at the side of your mother’s long skirt.

“Aw, sweetie, don’t worry! He won’t be mean! He’s been raised in a very nice household and knows all of his manners. He was a very good boy when I visited his house for a business arrangement.”

You tilted your little head as you gazed up with a confused expression. “Ar-range-ment? What’s that?”

“Oh, uh- Nothing, sweetheart. Now go get ready. They’re going to be here in a couple minutes.”

“But-”

“No buts. Now move it, missy.” You pouted and crossed your arms as you stomped away to your bedroom while mumbling incoherent words. “What was that~?”

“Nothiiiiing~”

~~~
Soon, the doorbell rang, and the creaky door sounded. “Ah, Mr. and Mrs.Ackerman! It’s so nice to see you! Please come in!”
“Why thank you. This is a beautiful house you have here, madam.”
“Oh, hush~ And if I remember correctly, this handsome little devil is Levi, right?” Your mother bent over and stuck her hand out to a small boy hiding behind his mother’s dress.
“Now, Levi. Don’t be rude. Say hello properly like you’ve been taught.”
The young boy sighed and came out from hiding. “I-it’s nice to meet you, ma’am.”
“Aw, still as adorable as ever,” she said as she patted Levi’s head. The sudden contact made him flush and hide behind his parents again. Your mother chuckled at his shyness. “Now where is that daughter of mine? (first)! Come down here and greet our guests!”
You simmered a bit longer before replying. “I’m coming!” The sound of tiny footsteps filled the mansion as you ran down the hall and down the stairs.
“Ah there you are!” You ran over to your mother as she introduced you. “Mr. and Mrs.Ackerman, this is my daughter, (first).”
“Well now, isn’t she quite the cutie~” Levi’s mother cooed. His father knelt down and took your hand.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, (first).”
“I-it’s a pleasure to meet you too, sir!”
His father chuckled. “I’m glad. Now I’d like to introduce you to my son,” he said as he pushed his child in front of him. “Go on, tell her your name.”
The boy looked back at his father, then reluctantly turned back around. “I’m Levi,” he said as he abruptly stuck out his hand. You stared down at his hand, then back at him. “Well? Are you going to shake my hand or what?”
“Hmp!” You crossed your arms and stuck your nose in the air. “You don’t shake a lady’s hand! You take it gently and kiss it!”
“Ew, no way! I don’t wanna kiss your dirty hand!”
“My hand’s not dirty! You’re the one that’s dirty, shortie!”
“(first)!”
“Levi!”
“(first), you apologize to Levi right now!”
“You too Levi! That was very rude of you!”
“Yeah, well she started it...”
“No I didn’t! Liar!”
“Children, enough!” A loud clap resonated throughout the room. Everyone turned to the door to find your father standing in the its frame. He walked over and knelt beside you and Levi. “Now, children, why are you fighting?”
“Because he was being mean to me!”
“No I wasn’t. I was just telling the truth.”
“Nu-uh!”
“Yu-huh.”
“Alright, alright, alright,” your father interrupted as he put a hand on your and Levi’s shoulder. “Listen, kids. We, adults, have some very important business about the future to talk about, and we’d very much appreciate it if you two could try to get along while we talk. Do you think you guys could do that for us?”
“Well, I guess… But if he’s mean again then I’m taking him down!”
“(fiiiiiirst),” your mother called.
“Fiiiiine~”
Your father chuckled at your openness. “And Levi, I trust you’ll be a perfect gentleman and protect my little girl?”
“Yes, sir…”
“Good,” he said as he tussled the hair atop both of your heads. “Now go play in the garden while we talk, okay? (first), show him the way?”
“Okay daddy!” You turned to Levi. “C’mon, let’s go.”
~~~

“And this is our rose garden. We have all types of roses: red, white, yellow. My daddy says we even have blue flowers that grow in a secret garden.”

Levi rolled his eyes. “Yeah, sure. “Blue roses” in a “secret garden.” That’s such a lie.”

“No it’s not! I saw them before! My daddy brought them from the garden once!”

“Blue roses don’t exist, stupid. You make them in a factory with other roses and coloring.”

“Nu-uh! I even asked for them for Christmas and I got them again! Next you’re going to tell me Santa isn’t real or something…”

“Yeah, well, he isn’t.”

You gasped with your hand over your mouth. “You… You liar... You’re just saying that because Santa put coal in your stocking!”

“Santa doesn’t exist! I’ve asked for something and I never got it! And it was my birthday too…”

“Your birthday? Wait, does that mean your birthday is on Christmas?!” Levi nodded. “Woah! Does that mean you get double the presents?! That’s awesome!”

“No it’s not! I’ve only wished for one thing every year and it never comes true. It’s not fair…”

“Well what did you wish for?”

“I don’t have to tell you.”

“Hmp. Fine then,” you said, crossing your arms. “You can suffer for all I care. I’m gonna go play with my toys in my room.” You began walking away from Levi but soon stopped dead in your tracks.

“What? You don’t wanna play anymore?”

“L-Levi. Help.”

“Why? What’s wrong-” Levi peaked around you and saw a stray dog, growling. He walked to you and grabbed your hand, pulling you behind him.

“Levi, I’m scared.”

“It’s okay. I’ll protect you.” The dog had grown more agitated by Levi’s presence and started growling louder. Soon it pounced onto Levi, knocking him down. They struggled and you knew Levi wasn’t going to win without help. You grabbed a stick and hit the dog with it, causing it to whimper and run away.

“And you’d better not come back!” You dropped the stick and sat by Levi. “Levi, are you okay?!”

“I’m fine-”

“Did it hurt you?! It didn’t bite you, did it?!”

“Calm down! I said I’m fine. I just got my clothes a little dirty, that’s all.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.” He stood up and stretched his arm out to you. “C’mon. Let’s go play.”

You smiled and took his hand to stand up. “Oh Levi, wait.”

“What is it?”

“U-um… I just wanted to say thanks. F-for saving me… That was really brave of you.”

Levi blushed at your sudden kindness. “W-whatever. It’s not like I did it for you… I-I did it ‘cause I promised your dad! N-now let’s go,” he began walking but you pulled him back.

“Wait!”

“What is it now?” You quickly pecked Levi’s cheek. His face lit up a crimson brighter than any rose in your garden. “W-w-what was that for?”

“O-oh, uh- You had a cut on your cheek, and I wanted to kiss it better!” There was no cut.

A smile tugged at the corners of Levi’s lips as he tried to contain himself. “You remember when I said I wanted something and I never got it?”

You looked at him with confusion plastered on your face. “Yeah? What about it?”

“Well, I’ve always a dog… But now I think I’ve found a new pet to play with.”

You giggled until it finally dawned on you. “Hey! What’s that supposed to mean?!”

“Hmp. Just tell me if you get in trouble again.”

“Why?”

“Well, if that’s how you plan on treating me, then I wouldn’t mind getting hurt.”

“What do you mean?” Levi winked and ran away into the garden, leaving you standing there all confused. “Wha- Leviiii~!”

Me: Ooooh~ I remember that from when we were cubs~ You were so much more fun~ *puts hands to cheeks as tail sways*
Levi: Except you cried more. And it's 'kids' not 'cubs'.
Me: Oh whatever and I did not! The only difference was that it wasn't a dog... it was a huge-ass wolf... *ears flatten*
Levi: *rolls eyes* It was a Chihuahua.
Me: HEY! It still attacked!
Levi: *sigh* You started bawling your eyes out the moment you saw the damn dog.
Me: I. am. a. FOX. LEVI. It's natural for me to be scared of dogs!
Levi: There's a part 2.
Me: REALLY?! *clicks*
